Microsoft have now announced their plans to push their business social networking service ‘Yammer’ by default for all commercial customers using their Office 365 package.
Acquiring Yammer in 2012 for $1.2billion, many have been wondering what the purpose of the purchase has been due to its lack of use since.
Reportedly the plan at current is to tie Yammer into Office 365 Groups by June 2016, paving the way for users to use Yammer in ‘cross-suite scenarios’. Examples include moving Yammer conversation onto Skype Calls, access files on OneDrive and schedule items in Outlook, all from within a Yammer group.
The roll-out is planned in 3 ‘waves’, first starting to day and being to roll-out to Office 365 customers with business subscriptions, less than 150 licenses that include Yammer and who have zero or one custom domains for Yammer.
